The third spin-off of Portland’s cult favorite Thai restaurant, Pok Pok LA, was one of the city’s buzziest openings of 2015. Located in Chinatown’s Mandarin Plaza, the trendy Thai hotspot offers a delicious sampling of chef Andy Ricker’s most famous dishes. Think curry noodle soup, deep-fried spicy pork laap, turmeric-marinated catfish, crispy farm egg salad or papaya salad.

Just a few blocks from the Staples Center this South American tapas-style bar does the trick if you’re craving a Buenos Aires vibe. The three-course menu gives solid options—like squid ink risotto or ricotta-potato dumplings for the first course and Argentinean style shrimp, braised short rib or chicken for the main. Dessert is house-made chocolate mousse. Don’t mind if I do.

Opened by Top Chef contestant Shawn Pawn in June, Simbal is a true hidden gem tucked away in Little Tokyo. Scout out this minimalist-industrial Southeast Asian eatery during dineLA for starters like chili grilled pork ribs or braised pork belly, black cod or wild shrimp for mains and a sugared Chinese doughnut or coconut flan with tamarind caramel for dessert.

As the newest Greek restaurant in the heart of Santa Monica, Inotheke, by Cyprus-born chef Carolos Tamazos, has a plethora of traditional favorites to feast on. Highlights include Greek salad, moussaka, lamb salad, and baklava. Dessert avail at dinner only.

Estrella, Sunset Strip newbie with celeb chef Dakota Weiss at the helm, is rolling out a tasty lunch. Twenty bucks goes a long way here with a choice of Peking duck, white bean bisque or roasted dates followed by a crab cake BLT, roasted squash with black garlic tapenade or grilled skirt steak. Craving something sweet? For $6 extra, splurge with a rosemary panna cotta or chocolate caramel bar.

The epic cityscapes at the Mondrian’s newest restaurant, IVORY ON SUNSET, are worth a visit alone. Now, throw in some stellar (and seriously discounted) eats by The Taste show alum Chef Brian Malarkey and it’s near pitch perfect. DineLA dinner standouts include braised short rib or a half chicken with chimichurri and flourless chocolate cake or passion fruit cheesecake for dessert.

You may have not noticed, but there’s a new Sushi Roku incarnation in town (same peeps that operate Boa Steakhouse, Robata Bar, Katana and more). Opened nearly across the street from Soho House West Hollywood, Roku's dineL.A. deal features favorites like crispy rice with spicy tuna, spicy pork belly and kimchi fried rice. Finish off your meal with green tea tiramisu or a chocolate volcano cake.

As the best restaurant to open in the SFV last year, Bellwether is a must-eat if you like simple, unpretentious food that just tastes ‘f$%*ing good’, according to Father’s Office alum, chef Ted Hopson. Standout hits on the dineLA menu include the first-course crispy brussels sprouts, second-course meatballs or tempura cauliflower and third-course braised lamb shoulder or bipimbap rice bowl topped with a poached egg.
