4/20 may be the only day of the year in LA where that cloud that sits over the city isn’t smog. Recreational Marijuana is no longer breaking news, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to stop celebrating. Whether you’re looking for a new dispensary, or the SoHo House for stoners, here are the best joints in town.
Where to Buy
Kimmy Tan (Tattoo Artist and YouTube Star): Hands. Down. Best. Dispensary. Ever. The Reefinery was one of the first legal dispensaries to open in the area. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They're always stocked with a huge variety of top quality medicine at reasonable prices. You always feel like family at the Reefinery. 10/10 would recommend.
99 High Tide Collective
Holden Jagger (Chef, Cultivator, Ganjier) : Fun dispensary for the beach goer. It is out in Malibu up on PCH across from the Nobu Malibu and new Soho House Malibu. Great sun grown at a fair price. I love how this dispensary lists the name of the farm that grew the sun-grown cannabis. I love the vibe in this shop. It’s very clean and the people are very warm and knowledgeable.
Angela Mazzanti (Cannabis Event Host) :
If we are going to LA, TLC Collective the one that Jungle Boys owns. Being able to have easy access, to all of their Jungle Boy strains and all the products that they do carry plus you can see their grow in the shop. They have a window in the shop where you can see some of their plants. All of the girls there are super knowledgeable. The lines there get a little crazy, but they run through them pretty fast.
Where To Hang
Kimmy Tan: The Alchemy Lounge is more of a lounge than a dispensary, but they are stocked with everything else you need. If you’re looking for a dope lounge to chill and smoke at with cool music and chill vibes, Alchemy Lounge is the place.
Hitman Coffee Shop
Clark Campbell: In Amsterdam, you go to a cafe for coffee and a coffee shop for cannabis. Hitman Coffee Shop in LA is taking notes as it introduces its own new coffee shop and glass gallery concept. The impeccably clean glass dab rigs dotting long wooden tables and the outdoor patio and koi pond will impress any date. This is a 21+ establishment mostly utilized for special events and openings. Essentially, this is Soho House for stoners. Hitman Glass founder Dougie Fresh also has on display much of his personal collection of glass pipes you won't find anywhere else, including a glass fruit collection.
Where To Eat
Holden Jagger: A private dining experience where you are given the opportunity to learn the lineage, growing conditions and sometimes even the exact farm where the cannabis was grown. The cannabis is infused or paired with upscale dishes to create a fine dining experience.
Clark Campbell: Dating in the LA cannabis community means you meet a lot of healthy, granola-loving gurus who might take offense to your Animal-Style Double-Doubles and supersized wet burritos. Thankfully, both stoners and vegans can come together in perfect harmony at Gracias Madre. You'll be halfway through your entree before you hazily realize that there wasn't any meat on the menu! And the piece de resistance is their selection of cannabis-themed CBD infused cocktails.
Multiple locations; $
Clark Campbell: Pizza and potheads go together like Cheech and Chong. But LA's plethora of pizzerias can be daunting to the medicated mind, which makes Blaze Pizza a perfect place for first dates with different palates. This Chipotle of pizza offers a “Build Your Own” pie option that gives you unlimited toppings, which means you can show off your creativity with your six-cheese artichoke and bacon pizza topped with BBQ sauce drizzle. Puff up beforehand to keep your appetite adventurous and your conversation complex.
