Spouses and co-owners of Le Petit Paris, David and Fanny Rolland have been bringing a taste of Southern France to Downtown LA since they opened in the historic El Dorado Building in 2015. The couple owns two restaurants in Cannes —Miramar Plage on Le Croisette and Le Petit Paris (the original), plus a lovely boutique here in Los Angeles.
Moving to Los Angeles and opening the DTLA Le Petit Paris meant exploring our melting pot of a city through French eyes, which has led the couple to Malibu beaches, horseback riding sessions, seaside fare and of course, some shopping.
Fanny and David Rolland at Le Petit Paris
Le Petit Paris
DTLA, $$$
Fanny Rolland: I recommend ordering the truffle pasta with parmesan. I love the foie gras, which the chef prepares the French way, of course. It's very good. The Burgundy Escargots are also a must-order.
David Rolland: I love everything—king crab, the cheeseburger with truffle and foi gras ... a lot of our dishes come with truffle or foie gras, so I love that.
Gjelina
Venice, $$$
FR:The restaurant we love to go to most is Gjelina. It’s very comfortable. We love to escape to the ocean for all of the small plates.
Wally's Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills, $$$
DR: Wally’s is a very nice place to spend an hour or two. The chef is French, so naturally, there’s great wine!
Zuma Beach
Malibu
FR: I love Zuma Beach. It’s very relaxing and natural. One time we saw three whales in one sitting! It was spectacular.
Restoration Hardware
West Hollywood, $$$
FR: I love decor and I love to go to Restoration Hardware on Melrose just to hang out in the store. I think it’s my favorite in LA. The rooftop there is just amazing. People go there as if it's a museum—not necessarily to buy something, but just to see and experience. This is a must-see.
Will Rogers Polo Club
Pacific Palisades
FR: We like to go close to Malibu and ride horses at Will Rogers.
Baltaire, Katsuya, Water Grill
FR: Ugh, we love lots of restaurants too! Baltaire and Katsuya are great because we live near Brentwood. Water Grill in Santa Monica is nice too.
