Natasha Case has been pushing boundaries in food since 2008 when she founded her Southern California favored ice cream concept, Coolhaus, with life and business partner Freya Estreller. Their rule breaking move was 'Farchitecture', the happy union of food and architecture, which they went on to dub Coolhaus. With ice cream sandwiches as their medium, Case and Estreller churn out treats with architectural flare that make design more accessible and elevate the eating experience.
The first Coolhaus ice cream sandwiches were the “cool houses” Case made while working as an architectural intern at Walt Disney Imagineering. She named the flavor combinations after famous architects and architectural movements (like 'Frank Behry' and 'Mintimalism', for instance). The rest of the story is a creamy, cold fairy tale. Natasha and Freya bought a beat-up postal van off of Craiglist and set up shop at Coachella to give the people what they want: super-premium ice cream with inventive flavors like 'Whiskey Lucky Charms', 'Milkshake and Fries' and 'Fried Chicken and Waffles' sandwiched between fresh cookies.

10 years later, Coolhaus now has two Southern California brick-and-mortar locations, 10 mobile ice cream trucks and nationwide distribution. Los Angeles has always been an inspiration for the Coolhaus brand. “LA always has, and will have, an irreverent architecture scene where a lot of rules and norms are broken,” Natasha Case, Coolhaus’s CEO, told Citizine, adding that their brand tries to mirror this creativity and spirit.
