What: Vegan PlaceList

Nicole Derseweh are Angelenos and seasoned vegans who help meat eaters and vegans alike ease into plant-based lifestyles. Jason’s
cookbook and popular
YouTube channel have garnered quite a following, and even John C. Reilly has raved about his cooking. Nicole Derseweh is the personality behind growing YouTube channel
I Vegan You, where she shares and demonstrates recipes to help newbie vegans thrive. It’s no news that there are tons of vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in LA, but these two have handpicked the best of the best for your plant-based pleasure.
Vromage
West Hollywood, $$
Jason Wrobel: It's a vegan cheese shop, for God's sake. This ain't the dark ages anymore. Creamy, creative and ultra delicious.
Elf Cafe
Echo Park, $$
Nicole Derseweh: Elf is my favorite intimate date night spot. Sit with your lover or friend at the bar counter and watch the masterpiece unfold.
Shojin
Culver City & Downtown, $$$
JW: The best sushi ever. Vegan or not. The rolls are so damn tasty and inventive. Plus, they treat you like family.
The Springs
DTLA, $$
ND: Downtown! Cool classes and amazing elixirs ... the vibe is super sexy and peaceful.
Kitchen Mouse
Highland Park, $$
JW: I dream of moving to Highland Park just to be closer. The entire brunch menu is freakin' heroic and it feels like you’re dining at Grandma's house.
Satdha
Santa Monica, $$
JW: Best vegan Thai food that's not in Thailand. Super creative dishes and they’re not afraid of the spice here.
The Trails Cafe
Griffith Park, $
ND: Another post-hike spot ... they always have vegan pie, and they make their own almond milk in house, which I order in my flat white. It's so good it rivals my hemp cap at Javista!
The Punchbowl
Los Feliz, $$
JW: The best cold-pressed juice and smoothie shop in LA. Period. They're in a league of their own. A serious addiction.
Dune
Atwater Village, $$
ND: Seriously the best falafel sandwich I've had in my life ... I can't stop eating it.
Organix
Eagle Rock, $$
JW: Their tacos and sandwiches are hot messes of magical mastication merriment. I'm a sucker for their Puerco Sandwich. When you're feeling like healthy junk food, this is the place to wreck yo' self.
Âu Lạc LA
DTLA, $$
JW: Chef Ito is a genius. The vegan yam shrimp is a holy revelation and his menu is full of Asian fusion dishes that delight.
Javista Organic Coffee Bar
Hollywood, $
ND: I hang post hike with my girls here every week. We get hemp cappuccinos (my favorite vegan cap in the city to date) and the avocado split ... it's essentially a bruschetta stuffed avocado!
Yoga-urt
Glendale, $$
JW: Vegan soft serve to end all soft serves. They always have new flavors, their toppings are rad, and their gluten-free cones are hand-made in house. Totally worth the drive to Kenneth Village in Glendale, trust me!
Pomegranate
Beverly Grove, $$
JW: A dessert lover's dream. Cakes, cookies, pies, mousse, lattes - all vegan and organic. It's a kaleidoscope of decadence here. Pure magic that needs to be savored ... slowly.
Araya's Vegetarian Place
Beverly Grove, $$
ND: Araya’s is the best vegan Thai food in the city! Sheri the owner works her butt off and some of the dishes she dreamed up as a child! You must try the avocado curry and also the drunken mushrooms.
By Chloe
Silver Lake, $$
JW: Classic American comfort food. Veganized. It's really satisfying and also really clean so you don't feel like a bag of crap after you nosh on a fatty burger here.
