Ah, Thanksgiving! That special time of year when the dinner table comes alive with disparate political views, cranberry sauce, turkey and stuffing. If you’re someone who takes great pride in cooking a full eight-course meal for friends and fam, cool, but not everyone shares your enthusiasm. For those of us who want to skip the 6 a.m. wakeup call from the bird in the oven, we bring you a Thanksgiving take-out cheat sheet from some of the most trusted restaurants in Los Angeles.
Friends & Family
East Hollywood, $$
Gobble, gobble! The first place we recommend for all hoping to avoid cooking is Friends and Family. They’re prepping oven-ready or already roasted Heirloom California Turkeys, and if you’re looking for an alternative, pork loin and farmers market salads are on the menu too. We’ve got our eyes on the persimmon, pomegranate and arugula salad ... For dessert, Roxana Jullapat is whipping up five housemade pies. Order by November19 to get your meats, sides, snacks and pies!
Wexler's Deli
Multiple locations, $$
Moving right along with feast options, Wexler’s Deli offers whole smoked Mary’s Free Range Turkeys with all the fixings: drippings gravy, autumn squash soup, challah stuffing, roasted carrots and more. Have a sweet tooth? Pumpkin pie with toasted marshmallow and graham cracker crust is obviously the solution, unless you prefer the brown butter pecan pie with cocoa nib. On second thought, get both, but order by 5 p.m. on November 19 or it’s no pie for you.

Joan’s on Third
Beverly Grove, $$
Zucchini and corn fritters, maple brown sugar yams, butternut squash and pear soup … Joan, our mouths are watering. Place your order by 12 p.m. on November 17 if you want the Third Street lunch establishment to cater your holiday feast. Seasonal salads, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls and oven roasted turkey are in your future.
Winston Pies
Brentwood, $$
This year, we’re thankful for PIES! … Uh, we mean family. Winston Pies has all the flavors you’re craving available in standard 11-inch or petite 5-inch sizes: harvest apple, fall pumpkin, classic southern pecan, chocolate cowgirl, dixie classic cherry, blue ridge blueberry, Key West Lime and cranberry orange chess! Order online by November 17 to get your hands on one or five of these sweet creations.
Horse Thief BBQ
DTLA, $$
If you’re skipping the huge gathering all together this year, tackle Thanksgiving dinner Texan style instead! Horse Thief BBQ offers a Turkey Package with breasts by the pound in addition to their full
catering menu for take-out. If you want to get mixed up in other meats, check out their Picnic, Tailgate and State Fair packages, which include beef brisket, pulled pork, chicken and all the sides.
