Waikīkī Beach
Honolulu, United States
One of the most recognizable beaches in the world, Waikiki was once a playground for Hawaiian royalty. The two-mile stretch of white sand is famous today due in large part to the Waikiki Beach Boys. Their joie de vivre and unfailing jovial outlook played a large part in the worldwide appeal of the Hawaiian Islands during the 1900s. Kings in their time through no official appointment, the Waikiki Beach Boys were the first ambassadors for Hawaii - greeting visitors with lei upon arrival, acting as tour guides, friends and confidants during their stays, and singing songs of aloha. Today, the same blissful attitude and genuine care is fostered. -
