20th Annual Fall Harvest Festival
Underwood Family Farms kicks off its 20th Annual Fall Harvest Festival this Saturday! Start the day off with a stroll through the pumpkin patch, watching piglets race or get up close and personal with an alpaca. In addition to the typical fall festival fun, don't miss the CPR chest compression training from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. or the bomb squad and bomb robot demo at 12:30 p.m. All proceeds from the admission will help benefit The Ventura County Sheriff's Explorers Program, VSCO Foundation & Search and Rescue Groups, Thousand Oaks Volunteers in Policing & Disaster Response Team and The Ventura County Fire Department's Charity Groups.

9th Annual Farhang Foundation Short Film Festival
Clear your calendar and take a step into Iranian culture via film this Saturday with The 9th Annual Farhang Foundation Short Film Festival. Start the evening off at 6 p.m. with a screening of each of the films, followed by the awards ceremony hosted by Iranian-American comedian and actress Melissa Shoshahi and an exclusive cocktail reception. The finalists’ films cover a range of genres from narrative drama and experimental to animation and music video. The top three winners will receive cash prizes of $3,000, $5,000 and $10,000. Composting Workshop
It's time for all you so-called hippies to take care of Mother Earth! This Sunday, Women's Center for Creative Work combines forces with LA Compost and Earth Activation Group for a free composting workshop. How do you compost? Easy. Instead of simply throwing away your egg shells, orange peels and broccoli stems, place them in a separate container and throw them into a bin mixed with soil and hay. Then, churn baby churn! Disclaimer: there are several ways to compost and all are quick and easy. Plus, your creation can be thrown back into your garden to help your fruit and veggie friends grow!
