What: Venice Beach PlaceList
Who: Every morning, blonde bombshell Shelby Wild wakes up happy to be alive in her Venice, CA home. Before becoming one with the Pacific Ocean, she worked as a fashion stylist for Vogue Italia and Intermix in New York City. Eventually, she grew tired of the corporate world and left to pursue a more laid-back and creative lifestyle. Cue Playa, a hair care line dedicated to beautiful, healthy, beachy hair. The inspiration for her company happened somewhere between her love for beauty products and the 10 half-used salt spray bottles scattered across her East Village apartment. Initially, she asked herself two questions: why wasn't she using any of the products sprinkled across her home and what are the essential beauty products for women? Over the next few years, she sought the answers and created Playa, a non-toxic, efficacious haircare line that launched exclusively at Violet Grey in July 2017.

Here’s her guide to the beachside town you might have heard of called Venice, CA.
Shelby Wild: I like surfing at the beach in front of Rose. The waves are good and it is usually pretty quiet.
SW: A great place to shop for amazing clothing and home goods.
Tocaya Organica Sunset Plaza
SW: Nothing compares to the lettuce wrap tacos and plantain chips from Tocaya.
Blue Bottle Coffee
SW: Two words: drip coffee.
Love Yoga Venice
SW: I recommend the classes with Kyle and Sian, they are the best.
Venice Community Garden
SW: My Garden on Abbot Kinney. I love preparing meals from my week’s harvest.
Venice Bike Path
SW: I love to unwind at the end of the day by listening to music and riding along the Venice bike path. There is nothing that makes me happier than watching the sun set while riding along the coastline - it is a constant reminder of how lucky I am to live in California.
SW: Order the veggie ramen. You won’t regret it.
