Where: Los Angeles
What: The little weekend that could...
Who: Proud LA parents John and Christie Roberts know how to find wholesome memories amidst the glitz and glam of the city. John is an entertainment executive, Christie owns a dermatology practice in Beverly Hills and their son Jason is an aspiring train conductor. We interviewed the Roberts family to learn how to play like a local, at any age.

West Hollywood Park, Library and Tennis Courts
West Hollywood, All ages
John and Christie Roberts: Jason loves going to the West Hollywood Park with all the great equipment and lots of grass. Every Saturday he takes tennis lessons on the rooftop courts of the library. The WeHo Library offers an amazing assortment of books, DVD’s, books and other fun activities for kids and families.
Petersen Automotive Museum
Mid-Wilshire, All ages
JCR: We love taking Jason to the Petersen where they have all sorts of sights and activities for the whole family. There is an entire area dedicated to Lightning McQueen and Mater from Disney Pixar's Cars.
Griffith Park & Southern Railroad
Griffith Park, All ages
JCR: A magical place for young and old who have a passion for trains. Great place to walk around and see all sorts of trains and an amazing birthday party locale.
Au Fudge
West Hollywood, Ages 1+
JCR: A great family-friendly restaurant where everyone can have an enjoyable time. There is full-time child care, so while meals are being prepared the kids can go into the playroom for a wide range of activities while mommy and daddy can enjoy catching up over an adult beverage or an assortment of teas & coffee drinks. There are video games, a photo booth, and front end store with specialty items like coffees, baked goods, candy toys and all sorts of delectable items.
Romp
Hollywood, All ages
JCR: Jason loves this fun, indoor playground. It has everything a little boy or girl could want: a small climbing wall, slides, a bounce house, a ball pit and even an indoor sandbox. Great place for birthday parties or a cloudy day.
Underwood Family Farms
Moorpark, Ages 1+
JCR: One of Jason’s favorite spots, especially around Halloween! Has a ton of fun activities including Pony Rides, Electric Train Ride, Moon-Bounce, Trike Trail, Petting Corral. Great place to get pumpkins, fruits and vegetables too!
Santa Monica Pier
Santa Monica, All ages
JCR: One of our favorite places to go. Love to go on all the rides, play carnival games and can easily spend hours in the arcade trying to earn tickets from Skeeball to all sorts of games for some prize that Jason thinks is the most awesome thing in the world!
The Grove
Fairfax, All ages
JCR: A staple in the Roberts family. We like concerts in the park, the amazing fountain choreographed to all sorts of music, and the Barnes & Noble has an amazing children's area on third floor— with toys, books and even scheduled story time events. The Grove is also home to all sorts of family-friendly restaurants and we always end up at the Farmers Market for Bennett’s Ice Cream at the Original Farmers Market!
